The first step of the custom design process is to set up a consultation to talk about your vision, wants, hopes and dreams. We’ll work on an initial design, discuss fabrics, and I’ll do some sketching to bring your ideas into a visual format. I’ll also take your measurements, and we’ll come up with a timeline for the rest of the process.

In order to ensure a perfect fit in the final piece(s), we’ll do a prototype fitting before I draft your final pattern(s). I’ll make a cotton mockup of the garment(s) to have you try on for me. From this process I can assess the fit, and we can discuss and change any style details to improve the overall look.

We don’t want any surprises in the end, and to make sure we’re on the same page throughout the entire process, we’ll have one or more preview fittings during the construction process. Sometimes it may be to check the fit before setting the zipper and lining, and other times it may be to muslin drape a specific detail on an almost completed piece.

The last step of the custom design process is the final fitting. Once everything is complete, we’ll have you in for a final fitting. At this point, the garment will be completely finished and you’ll be able to take the piece(s) home with you. In the rare case that alterations are needed, those are included in the cost, and I will make any tweaks necessary to get everything just right.
